Sophia's Pizzeria
HARTSVILLE, S.C. — Early Sunday morning, a fire broke out at a local pizzeria on West College Avenue in this Pee Dee community, causing significant damage to the building and prompting a large emergency response.

Fire crews were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. after smoke was reported coming from Sophia’s Pizzeria. The blaze took several hours to fully contain and brought dozens of firefighters together to fight the flames.
While no injuries have been reported, the restaurant’s owner posted a message saying, “so with a very broken heart I must say Sophia’s caught fire and it’s real bad! Y’all just be patient with us and pray real hard for me and my Sophia’s family.”
Officials indicated the cause of the fire appears to be accidental at this time. It remains unclear when the pizzeria will reopen, but the damage is described as extensive.
Members of the community have rallied, offering support to the business and its staff in the wake of the incident. Local leaders say they’ll monitor repairs and redevelopment efforts as the investigation continues.
